Cory Holmes

Wow, it's been over a year since the last contribution. Maybe this next contributor will jump start this thing back up again.

This piece comes from a good friend of mine, Cory Holmes, an animator who is currently 'stranded' in Las Vegas for an indefinite length of time. He animated on several animated projects alongside me, including $ooPah NIN10Doh! & is currently working on his own animated shorts.

"Mr. Ruocco said I should draw a duck for the Duck blog, only problem was I can't draw cartoony characters as much as I want to yet without giving characters too much anatomy. Originally I thought of doing an anthro duckgirl but ultimately decided to go with something I always find adorable, a baby duck splashing in water... that and the fact I didn't wanna scare people with a large breasted version of Daisy Duck. XD"

Check out his blog & his deviantArt page. Thanks for the cute duck, Cory! Very nice job!

Chris "Kirbopher" Niosi

Contribution #5 comes from a very good friend of mine, who's also an animator here at SVA. Drawn by the guy that brought you TTA, Go! Go! Parody Rangers, NIN10Doh!, Brawl Taunts & other Flash films over at Newgrounds.com: Chris "Kirbopher" Niosi!

"YEARS ago when I took a trip to England, I was obsessed with Wario Land 1 for the Game Boy and took a liking to the pirate ducks. I drew a whole crew of them for a crappy video game concept I later abandoned, but in the process had a lot of fun. Ducks are definitely great for classic cartoon comedy. I don't often draw bird-themed characters for some reason but ducks are always good fun."

Make sure to check out Chris' website, the Go! Go! Parody Rangers Movie Production Blog & his Newgrounds page! Thanks for sendin' this in, dude!

Our 4th contribution was drawn (& painted) by my good friend & fellow SVA animation classmate, Ivey Ao!

"mein ducks. watercolored. They looked a lot better sketched, I can tell you. It was my first attempt at mixing colors in tubes."

Fantastic job, Ivey! What great designs & vibrant colors! Thanks for paintin' & sendin' in these duckies!

"Hey, My name is Doug Anderson, and I quickly drew this up today, but I think most of us can relate to this, I know I can, cause I've had a bird crap on me before!"

Welcome + Rules & Specifications:

Oh no.... what's he up to now?....

Welcome to "DUCK!", an art & cartoon contribution site.

Personally, I think ducks are funny creatures & make great cartoon characters. To me, ducks seem to be the most fun to draw. So many animators, cartoonists & artists think so too. But what does that have to do with this blog?

This blog is a "Duck Art Contribution Archive". What does that mean, you ask? The idea is to have artists, from all corners of the globe, come together & contribute drawings, cartoons or just plain scribbles & doodles of ducks in their own style! I'll take them & post them up here for all to see. & anybody is allowed to contribute: students, professionals, amateurs, EVERYBODY IS WELCOME!

To contribute, save your image as a jpeg & attach it to an email & label it Duck! - your name (ex: "Duck! - John Doe") & send it to my email address. You can find it in my profile.

Rules:

-1) Each artist can only contribute one entry. That entry can be done in any medium: pencil, ink, paint, sculpture, digital... whatever he/she is comfortable with!

-2) Sign your entry!

-3) If you want, you can also write a description of your work or write a brief piece about your opinions or thoughts about ducks. Personal experiences? Inspirations? a duck limerick? Whatever! Also, if you have a website or blog, feel free to include the URL address in the body of the email & I'll post the link in the CONTRIBUTORS list on the right.

-4) Do not send in other people's artwork. Original artwork ONLY!

But most importantly, this blog is just for fun! So what're you waiting for? Draw a duck & send it in!
